A new project aims to bring food straight from the farm to the restaurant table in Wisconsin. Rachel Armstrong with the ”Buy Fresh, Buy Local” campaign says chefs get fresher ingredients, customers get tastier food, and farmers make more money.

“For chefs especially, they know local foods are fresher, they know they taste better, they can be very affordable, and they're best for the community, too. The consumer gets a better tasting, fresher product, and that's better for them in the end.”

Armstrong believes the project will boost farm revenue because when farmers sell direct to restaurants, they get a bigger cut than they would from distributors.

“By fostering local markets, we are giving those farmers the ability to make more, and to be more connected to the consumers of their food.”
