The U.S. House is debating a renewable energy bill and supporters say the law could mean a lot of "green" for Washington State. The law would require 20 percent of the nation's electricity come from renewable sources by 2020. Patrick Mazza with Climate Solutions says there are significant economic benefits.

"For Washington State it means 2,100 new jobs from renewable energy development, $1.7 billion in new capital investment."

He adds that its good news for consumers too.

"By diversifying the energy sources away from simply relying on fossil fuels we get consumer savings: $290 million in lower electricity and natural gas bills by 2020."

Washington voters passed Measure 937 last fall, requiring that 15-percent of all electricity in the state come from new renewable sources by 2020.
