Mason City, IA – There was a capacity crowd in Mason City Thursday to urge Senator Charles Grassley to get moving on health care reform in Congress.

Grassley, who took part in a National Forum on Health Care Reform, is one of the Senators who will have a high profile in determining whether Americans see health care reform this year and what kinds of changes will be made.

One of those who were there to address Senator Grassley was Lee Hammond, president-elect of the AARP national board, who says Congress is likely to get serious about health care issues in the coming weeks.

"There will be a bill on the floor some time within a month or so. We might really get into some good discussions and finalize some things perhaps about mid-summer."

Hammond says Senator Grassley will play a major role in shaping the health care debate from this day on.

"I think he and Senator Max Baucus of Montana are really the champions of bi-partisanship in this whole debate. I think that in order for us to get an effective piece of legislation it's going to have to be bi-partisan. "

The town-hall-style event, co-sponsored by AARP and Divided We Fail, will be broadcast the week of April 13th statewide on Mediacom, and nationally on C-SPAN.
