Un nuevo sitio web no partidista lleno de información sobre las Elecciones Generales de 2022 específicamente para Nevada ya está disponible en Internet. VoteSmartNV.org les permite a las personas saber cómo registrarse y listas de candidatos, sitios de votación y mucho más.

Brian Harris trabaja con el Institute for a Progressive Nevada (Instituto para un Nevada Progresista), que coprodujo la guía con el grupo Silver State Voices.

"Queremos que esta herramienta sea utilizada por los votantes de Nevada para educarlos sobre quién estará en su boleta y cuán fácil y accesible es votar este año en las Elecciones Generales", expresó Harris.

Todos los votantes registrados en Nevada recibirán una boleta por correo, que puede enviarse o dejarse en cualquier lugar de votación anticipada, incluso el día de las elecciones. Este noviembre, la gobernación, uno de los escaños del Senado de los EE. UU. en Nevada, todos los distritos del Congreso y muchos cargos electos estatales, del condado y locales estarán abiertos a elección.

Harris señala que los grupos que elaboraron la guía no respaldan a ningún candidato ni toman partido sobre los temas. Él explica que plantearon el mismo conjunto de preguntas a los candidatos estatales y federales sobre una variedad de temas, desde el derecho al voto y la propiedad de armas, hasta inmigración, leyes mineras y el aborto.

"Estos candidatos respondieron a las preguntas que les hicimos con sus propias palabras, no alteramos ni editamos sus respuestas. Entonces, esta es realmente una manera para que los votantes entiendan quién se presentará a las elecciones este año y cómo ven las preguntas de la organización del comité", comenta el entrevistado.

La guía también incluye fechas importantes relacionadas con las elecciones en Nevada. Por ejemplo, si desea que le envíen una boleta por correo, el último día para registrarse o actualizar su registro en línea es el 25 de octubre. Y la votación anticipada se extiende desde el 22 de octubre hasta el 4 de noviembre.
