DES MOINES, Iowa - La organización Planned Parenthood of the Heartland (Paternidad Planeada de la Tierra de Corazón) está celebrando 50 años de recaudar fondos con su tradicional venta de libros, que cada año atrae a miles de compradores. Pero en esta ocasión el evento tiene un sello especial que marca un hito en su historia. Se trata de la presentación de Peter Buffett, hijo del filántropo Warren Buffett y ganador del premio Emmy, quien actuará durante la celebración.

Un día, hace cincuenta años, la organización Planned Parenthood of the Heartland (Paternidad Planeada de la Tierra de Corazón) tuvo la iniciativa de vender libros usados para recabar fondos. Hoy en día el evento atrae a miles de personas a los terrenos de la feria estatal de Iowa.

Además, como algo especial, el músico, compositor, filántropo y escritor Peter Buffett asistirá este año y tocará para ayudar en la colecta, además de que platicará la historia de cómo su familia se relacionó con la organización Planned Parenthood (Paternidad Planeada). Su presencia se debe a una petición especial de sus padres.

"Porque mis padres, y en especial mi madre, estaban muy involucrados en el trabajo, y siendo éste el 50 aniversario del nacimiento de la píldora anticonceptiva, parecía un momento excelente para celebrar todo su magnífico trabajo, así que me pidieron que viniera y lo hice."

Buffett dice que su show es algo más que música: es compartir experiencias.

"Me di cuenta de que contar mi propia historia le daba a la gente oportunidad de descubrir un significado diferente en las palabras 'privilegio' y 'éxito', y cosas así, o sea que es un show de música y plática. Respondo preguntas del público durante todo el show."

La presentación de Buffett tendrá lugar en el auditorio Shelslow de la universidad Drake, el miércoles 15 de septiembre a las 6 de la tarde. Buffett también hablará sobre su libro: "Life is What You Make It" ("La vida es lo que la haces").
