PORTLAND, Ore. -- La enseñanza podría desempeñar un papel clave a la hora de colocar a las personas en trabajos bien remunerados, especialmente ahora con un alto desempleo por la pandemia.

Un análisis de la Institución de Brookings dice que Estados Unidos debería expandir sus ofertas de adiestramiento a medida que el país se recupera del COVID-19.

Lou Long es un administradora de Servicios de Aprendizaje del Noroeste con sede en Salem y dice que estos caminos brindan una forma para que las personas avancen rápidamente en sus carreras.

"Paso de $16 la hora a $28.80 en cuatro anos. ¿Que otro tipo de oportunidad existe para que hubiera un aumento salarial de $12 en cuatro anos?"

La semana pasada, la Casa de Representantes aprobó la Ley Nacional de Aprendizaje, la cual podría invertir $3.5 billones durante los próximos cinco años para poder crear casi un millón de oportunidades de aprendizaje.

Annelies Goger es la autora del análisis de Brookings. Ella dice que los adiestramientos generalmente se consideran programas para oficios como la construcción y los servicios públicos.

"En realidad, es apropiado para una amplia gama de industrias y varios tipos de trabajos. Esto podria abarcar desde enfermeria hasta construccion e incluso tecnologia, asi como desarrollo de software."

Goger dice que los aprendizajes brindan un largo camino para que las personas desarrollen habilidades que puedan ser competitivas en el mercado laboral.

También podría ser una herramienta para diversificar industrias como la tecnología. Ella dice que la mayoría de las empresas de tecnología reclutan cada año, a graduados de los mismos programas superiores de informática en el país.

"El hacer el adiestramiento les brinda un canal diferente para llevar a las personas al nivel que necesitan para un trabajo regular."

Goger dice que también es importante que los adiestramientos coincidan con los créditos universitarios que se requieren en Oregon.
