Los votantes republicanos de Kentucky se dirigen a las urnas hoy para emitir su voto en las elecciones primarias, donde decidirán quién se enfrentará al titular demócrata Andy Beshear en la carrera para gobernador en este otoño. El organizador de Kentuckians for the Commonwealth, Kenneth Williamson, dice que los recursos están disponibles en línea para ayudar a los votantes a navegar el día de la votación.

"Si las personas no saben nada sobre los candidatos, lugares de votación, viajes a las urnas o por el estilo, les animo a consultar nuestra guía de votación en Kentuckyelection.org, y podrán encontrar toda la información que necesitan saber ahí mismo," explicó el entrevistado.

También se puede encontrar más información en 'govote.ky.gov.' Para aquellos que se presentan en las urnas, se requiere una identificación con foto para votar; eso incluye una licencia de conducir, identificación militar o universitaria, u otras formas de identificación emitidas por el estado.

Williamson añade que cree que todos los habitantes de Kentucky deberían participar en la vida cívica.

"Solía estar en el ejército de los Estados Unidos, y no me cabe duda. También recibí recientemente mi derecho a votar. Así que estoy deseoso de ser parte del proceso en el que todos participamos como estadounidenses," reiteró también Williamson.

La línea directa de fraude electoral del estado abrirá hoy de 6 a. m. a 7 p. m. hora del este. Los votantes pueden llamar al 1-800-328-VOTE o al 1-800-328-8683 para denunciar presuntas infracciones. Según la Oficina del Secretario de Estado, las máquinas de votación y las urnas permanecerán cerradas y bajo vigilancia por video durante los 30 días posteriores a la elección.
