En el condado de Robeson, la crisis de opioides está exponiendo la necesidad de un mayor apoyo a las adicciones. El Southeastern Prevention and Addiction Recovery Resource Center (SPARC, por sus siglas en inglés) está abordando el problema reuniendo a más de 70 organizaciones en una red de recuperación unificada. La directora de SPARC, Dra. Jackie Davis, dice que su objetivo es optimizar los servicios y mejorar el acceso a un apoyo integral.

"El condado de Robeson tiene una alta tasa de uso, por lo que uno de los principales desafíos han sido los servicios y luego las organizaciones y agencias que trabajan en silos," enfatizó Davis.

Ella expresa que antes de SPARC, las agencias locales estaban aisladas en sus esfuerzos. Ahora, con financiación y apoyo en parte de Kate B. Reynolds Charitable Trusts, agrega que la iniciativa comunitaria está fomentando la cooperación para servir mejor a la gente del condado de Robeson, con planes para asegurar financiación continua y mejorar el acceso a la atención.

Davis menciona que SPARC proporciona recursos críticos como capacitación, apoyo educativo y ayuda para obtener fondos del arreglo económico para los afectados por opioides. Ella indica que estos esfuerzos han mejorado la atención al paciente y han desarrollado estrategias de recuperación a largo plazo adaptadas a las necesidades de la comunidad.

"Disparidades de salud aquí, solo queremos reducirlas o incluso eliminarlas si podemos, porque sabemos que existen grandes diferencias entre las áreas rurales y las urbanas o las ciudades más grandes, y simplemente queremos algo mejor para nuestra comunidad," insistió también Davis.

Ella argumenta que los objetivos futuros incluyen abordar las barreras de transporte para garantizar el acceso a los servicios y la sostenibilidad a través de financiación y apoyo continuos para las organizaciones miembros.
