Liga de Mujeres Votantes de TX participa en el Día Nacional de Registro de Votantes

Hoy es el Día Nacional de Registro de Votantes, y voluntarios de la Liga de Mujeres Votantes, una organización no partidista, están llevando a cabo eventos de registro en todo el estado, en bibliotecas, campus escolares e iglesias.

La presidenta de la Liga de Mujeres Votantes de Texas, Joyce LeBombard, dice que la organización ha visto un aumento de interés en la carrera presidencial, en ambos lados, ahora que la candidatura demócrata ha cambiado.

Añade que los votantes también deberían prestar atención a otras contiendas.

"En los años con elecciones presidenciales siempre hay más entusiasmo," dice LeBombard. "Pero creo que la gente debe recordar que todas las elecciones son importantes, y que lo que realmente importa son las elecciones de menor importancia, aquellas que afectan directamente a su comunidad."

LeBombard dice que, si ya está registrado para votar, ahora es un buen momento para verificar su estado de registro.

Texas ha eliminado a más de un millón de votantes de las listas desde 2021.

LeBombard dice que, desde su inicio, el Día Nacional de Registro de Votantes ha tenido un gran impacto en las elecciones.

"Creo que es un día muy importante," dice LeBombard. "Comenzó en 2012 con grupos organizadores de campanas a favor de la democracia y también con funcionarios electorales. Y desde 2012, más de 5 millones de votantes se han inscrito para votar o han actualizado su registro electoral."

La fecha límite para registrarse para votar en las elecciones generales del 5 de noviembre es el 7 de octubre. Texas no tiene registro en línea; debe hacerlo en un evento comunitario o en la oficina electoral de su condado.
