DES MOINES, Iowa - Iowa Family Planning Network (La Red de Planeación Familiar de Iowa) puede ayudar no solo a las mujeres de bajos ingresos a cubrir los costos de anticonceptivos, exámenes anuales, análisis clínicos e infecciones sexualmente transmitidas, pero pocas mujeres saben de ello.

Laura Dickey, especialista de la Red de Planeación Familiar de Iowa para el grupo Planned Parenthood of Greater Iowa (Planeación Familiar de Iowa) dice que las mujeres no deberían sacrificar su salud reproductiva o anticonceptivos durante estos tiempos económicos duros.

"Cubre un examen anual y un año de anticonceptivos además de tratamiento limitado de infecciones sexualmente transmitidas."

Dice que muchas mujeres que se les considera de clase media califican si pierden su cobertura de seguro médico ya que el programa cubre a mujeres en Iowa con ingresos en su hogar 200 por ciento del límite federal de pobreza. Para una familia de 4 personas sería un ingreso de hogar de menos de $60,000 por año.

"Cuando vienen a la clínica les ofrecemos los servicios si califican por ellos, si no a través de recomendaciones. Sé que tenemos a muchos pacientes adolescentes que cuando vienen traen a sus amigos."

Dickey añade que anticonceptivos y cuidado preventivo de la salud de la mujer está disponible gratuitamente en las clínicas de Planeación Familiar a través de la Red de Planeación Familiar de Iowa.
