Los expertos electorales piden calma y paciencia mientras los californianos -y todos los estadounidenses- acuden a las urnas el día de las elecciones.

Las normas que prohíben el recuento de votos hasta después del cierre de las urnas en estados en disputa como Pensilvania implica que el resultado definitivo podría tardar días o incluso semanas.

Celina Stewart es CEO de la Liga de Mujeres Votantes.

"Probablemente no sabremos quien es el ganador de las elecciones en la noche electoral," dice Stewart, "y debemos ser escépticos ante los candidatos que declaren su victoria antes de que haya un panorama claro."

Los votantes que tengan problemas para emitir su voto pueden informar a los funcionarios electorales del condado y a la línea directa: the hotline - 1-866-OUR-VOTE.

El Congreso aprobó la Ley de Reforma de Conteo Electoral a raíz del ataque del 6 de enero de 2021 al Capitolio de Estados Unidos.

El ataque tenía como objetivo detener la certificación de las elecciones y fue seguido por intentos de funcionarios alineados con Trump de presentar listas electores falsas y en competencia en varios estados.

La ECRA aclaró que el vicepresidente no puede anular los resultados y que las denuncias de fraude no comprobadas no permiten que las legislaturas estatales designen a electores por sí mismas después del día de las elecciones.
