President Joe Biden visited the presidential battleground state of Wisconsin on Wednesday to promote his economic agenda and strengthen his ties to working-class voters.

Men and women in orange shirts and hard hats greeted Biden at the Laborers' Apprenticeship and Training Center in DeForest with a banner reading, "Union strong."

Sarah Varga, a laborer apprentice for Laborers International Union of North America Local 464, introduced the president and said Biden's policies are helping workers like her reach their potential.

"We will be getting more money for the training center, so we can get better tools that are more up to date instead of old job tools," Varga explained.

Varga noted like many people, she was not interested in getting a college degree but rather in finding a good-paying occupation, and she agreed with Biden his "blue-collar blueprint to rebuild America" is working.

Biden promoted his Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and Inflation Reduction Act, which he said are creating quality union jobs for "places and people that have been forgotten."

Varga added the president's investments in worker training and apprenticeship programs are helping women like her start careers in construction.

"What he's doing is a step in the correct direction that we need to help build America," Varga asserted.

Biden touted specific infrastructure projects bringing more jobs to the state, including the building of a new port terminal in Green Bay and road and highway repairs. Similar to his State of the Union address, Biden asked lawmakers to work together for the improvement of the country.
